Lets face it... there are more carpet cleaners doing water damage these days than ever before BUT very few of them are trained in how to dry carpets properly and almost none of them carry the correct drying equipment.

The proper drying equipment consists of:

1. A moisture test (using a Hydro sensor) to truly determine where the moisture has spread too
   
   
2. A powerful machine to extract as much of the water as possible

In order to dry your carpets properly and dry your wet carpets ’fast’ they will require the following.

• With the first test being the moisture test (dome with the hydro sensor) the technician will determine exactly where the extent of the water damage is. Sometimes the carpet may feel dry to the touch ‘BUT’ is damp underneath where the untrained company will miss resulting in the growth of mould and mildew.
  
  
• Second is the extraction of the water. This preferable is done with a high powered truck mount. The smaller truck mounts or wheel in portables are good but the raw power of a more powerful machine like the one in this picture is better for extracting maximum moisture and shortening the drying time.
  
  
• Thirdly it’s vital to install an air dryer (air mover is its true name) to move the air to the wet areas. This allows the water to evaporate quickly.
  
  
• Forth one MUST install a dehumidifier while the sir dryer is in use. The dehumidifier will catch the evaporated moisture from the air and ’RAPIDLY SPEED’ up the drying time.
  
  
• Fifth the area should be treated during this process with a special antimicrobial that can help keep mould spores at bay during the drying process. Once dried there is no risk of mould growth as mould requires moisture to grow.
